Dear Readers,
In this issue we look at some of the happenings in the water world at present, both good and bad. In the first article we see how Shell is trying to make fracking water friendly. After all the controversy regarding fracking in the Karoo it is great to see the big companies putting some effort into making the process more sustainable, especially when there are warnings from activists that water scarcity will hit South Africa (Article 2).
The third article is extremely interesting as well as being concerning! An audit of the Department of Water Affairs has produced some alarming finds- something that the Minister of Water Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa, has assured the public is being investigated.
In the fourth article we see that the corporates are jumping onto the bandwagon when it comes to our scarce resources. Nedbank has committed R9 million to the WWF water programme- a clear indication of their commitment to protection our water resource.
In the final article we see how a pilot facility in Singapore has managed to cut the energy requirements for desalination by more than 50%- something to look out for.
As always, it has been a pleasure putting together this issue of the eJournal. We value your feedback. Please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have any comments or suggestions for future articles.
