Our Mission

Ensure that Water Resources harvested by the Project as well as other natural resources and infrastructure available within the area of operation are managed in a sustainable manner to maximise the long term benefits of the Project to all Stakeholders.

KOBWA STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
1.    Managing the water harvested by the dams in an effective and efficient manner to meet the international requirements of the Treaty. This includes:
          - effective maintenance of the dams and other infrastructure;
          - effective operation of the dams and other infrastructure; and
          - effective communication and cooperation with all stakeholders.
2.    Ensuring full compliance with the implementation of the Comprehensive Mitigation Plan (CMP) in order to meet the CMP objectives. This includes monitoring of the impacts on the environment and people in order to maximise the benefits and to minimise negative impacts.
3.    Liaising effectively with all stakeholders to promote sound relationships and cooperation.
4.    Ensuring sound and effective financial and administrative management of KOBWA to meet corporate governance requirements.
5.    Developing and establishing an effective and motivated Human Resource base to manage the key functions of KOBWA.
Water Management Strategic Objectives
1.    Ensuring efficient supply of water to the Parties by:
         - developing and implementing operating procedures;
         - developing and implementing water accounting procedures; and
         - developing and implementing a maintenance programme for the water infrastructure.
2.    Providing information and guidance to the Parties on efficient water use (based on reliable and accurate information).
3.    Providing information and guidance to the Parties on actions required to minimise the negative impacts to the aquatic environment (IFR - Water Quality/Bio monitoring).
4.    Putting efficient communication procedures, with all stakeholders, in place.
5.    Ensuring sound Human Resource and Financial Management.

Environmental and Resettlement Strategic Objectives

1.    Achieving compliance with the implementation of the Comprehensive Mitigation Plan (CMP) by:
          - managing Consultants effectively;
          - liaising with all role-players involved; and
          - liaising with other departments within KOBWA.
2.    Facilitating the development of the affected people by providing support services to the affected communities focussing on:
          - sustainability;
          - institutional & capacity building;
          - building opportunities / revolving development fund; and
          - zoning;
3.    Monitoring Project impacts by:
          - establishing & maintaining databases.
4.    Proper liaison with Project Stakeholders.
5.    Ensuring sound Human Resources and Financial Management.

Corporate Support Strategic Objectives

1.    Ensuring compliance with KOBWA Financial policy and procedure (GAAP):
          - managing effective, accurate & timely processing of data, payment of creditors, loans and financial reporting;
          - ensuring Corporate Governance adherence (Financial Control); and
          - effective Cash Flow Management, budgeting and financial control.
2.    Ensuring effective administrative management of KOBWA:
implementing and maintaining an effective Central Filing System and handling of documentation;
developing, implementing and maintaining an effective management information system (data base); and
rendering effective Administrative support.
3.    Effective Management of KOBWA Human Resources.
4.    Secretariat Duties
          - accurate and timely delivery of Secretarial Services (Support) to the KOBWA Board of Directors.
5.    Liaising effectively with all stakeholders.
